Khichdi

Ingredients
1 cup tuvar dal
1 cup rice
½ tsp. turmeric
Salt to taste
1 tbsp. ghee
Method
Wash & soak tuvar dal for 2 hours.
In a thick bottom pan heat ghee and add tuvar dal and 1 cup water, salt & turmeric. Bring this to a boil and cook till the dal is soft and half done.
Wash rice and set aside. Add the rice when the dal is half cooked.
Add enough water for the rice. My measure is to have enough water to cover the dal and rice. Let it cook till the rice is soft and fluffy.
Serve with your favourite vegetable or kadi.
