Ingredients
- 1 medium onion
- 1 medium tomato
- 2 dry red chilli
- 2 green chilli
- 2 stems of coriander
- 1 tsp ginger paste
- 1 tsp garlic paste
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 1 tsp ground coriander
- ½ ground red chilli powder
- ½ turmeric powder
- ½ cup fresh cream +2 tsp for garnish
- 6-7 peeled baby potatoes
- 3 tbsp oil
- Salt to taste
- ½ cup water
Method
In a blender add ingredients from 1 to 5 and blend to a smooth paste.
Make holes in the potatoes with a fork.
Heat oil in a sauce pan, add the potatoes and stir fry till golden brown. Remove from the oil and set aside.
In the same oil add the paste and let it simmer for a few minutes.
Add the ginger , garlic and fry for a few minutes.
Add ingredients from 8 to 11 and simmer till the oil separates and comes off the sides.
Add ¼ cup water and let it come to a boil.
Take it off the stove and let it cool for a while.
Then add the cream.
Now add the potatoes and add the rest of the water and let it boil for 10 minutes or more once the potatoes are cooked
Garnish with cream and coriander.
Your dum aloo is ready!
Serving Suggestion:
Best served with plain rice or naan bread.
